Welcome to Florida Weekly

Welcome to what we hope will become a habit - reading Florida Weekly.

We've taken great pains to insure that every issue is packed with interesting items that will inform and amuse.

We've found some of the best journalists in Florida to contribute; like columnist Roger Williams who writes about our town, "Fort Myers," with the insight of a NATIVE.

Karen Feldman is the dean of Southwest Florida food writers. Every week she'll take you on a special tour of area eateries; from the backstreet gems to the elegant haunts.

And Betsy Clayton knows the outdoors. Whether she's bird watching, kayaking, boating or fishing, expect something fresh, informative and useful.

Welcome to Florida

The rest of our contributors are all professional journalists with a nose for news and a passion for writing.

We've also spent money on the product.

We picked the best printer, Miamibased Southeast Offset, and spent a little more on heavier paper for our section covers. You'll also see more color in Florida Weekly any other weekly newspaper in Southwest Florida.

Our technology is also tops.

Our Web site, www.florida-weekly. com, is state-of-the-art. Our story archives are free and you can even download entire pages in .pdf format.

We know that sophisticated readers demand more from their newspaper. That's why we promise to provide the important local news, arts, entertainment, business and real estate you can't find anywhere else.

We also promise to be the community's independent voice without bias - just the facts, maam!

But to do that we need your help.

Call us, email or write. We'll listen.

Send us news tips, letters to the editor, tell about the your interesting neighbor or why you're so mad when you get your tax bill. Also, tell us what you like and what you don't. We're not the lumbering battleship that takes miles and eons to change direction. We're a nimble Corvette, ready to heed the voice of the community.

That's how we'll keep you; In the know - in the now. n
