Minich resigns
The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau announced Monday the resignation of D.T. Minich, as its executive director. Minich leaves his post on April 27 to become the executive director of the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
No interim director has been named, but the VCB is instituting an aggressive search to hire a successor to Minich, who has served the organization for the past 15 years and has been its director since November 2000.
"I've worked at every level of the VCB in my time here, and I owe a tremendous amount to Lee County for my career achievements. But, after instituting an extensive rebranding program, helping to open a new airport, and leading recovery efforts in the aftermath of 9/11 and two hurricanes, it's time to move on to new challenges," said Minich. "I look forward to more opportunities as I lead yet another great Florida destination."
During his tenure at the VCB, Minich is credited with unprecedented.
"There's no question that D.T. has made invaluable contributions to our destination's growth during his time with us. He will be missed," said Donald D. Stilwell, Lee County manager.
Stilwell said VCB senior staff will handle Minich's
responsibilities while a search for his successor is under way. n
