Take the bus free on Thursday
June 21 is National Dump the Pump Day

LeeTran Bus
LeeTran, Lee county's public transportation system, is giving residents a free ride on Thursday, June 21 as part of the Second Annual National Dump the Pump Day.

Riders can take any bus, system-wide at no charge on that day.

Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association, the 2007 National Dump the Pump Day is a day that encourages people to ride public transportation to help improve the environment and to conserve gasoline.

"Public transportation plays a vital role in improving our environment," said LeeTran Director Steve Myers. "On June 21, people can make a difference by riding public transportation and encouraging their friends and family to do so, too."

LeeTran's community partners for Dump the Pump Day are Chick-fil-A, Domino's Pizza, Dunkin Donuts, the Fort Myers Miracle, Mel's Diner, Hurricane Grill and Big Al's Sports Pub.

"Participation in National Dump the Pump Day means we will be reaching out to new riders and thanking our current riders," said Myers. In addition to eliminating fares, LeeTran has partnered with local businesses to give every passenger a valuable coupon to thank them for using public transit.

Maps and schedules are available on LeeTran's website at www.rideleetran.com, or riders can call customer service at 533-8726 (LEE-TRAN) from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, or Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
