"Stay Alive…Just Drive" campaign kicks off
The Stay Alive...Just Drive traffic safety campaign encourages all Southwest Floridians to support the effort to curb distracted driving.
Lee County continues to experience high numbers of fatalities, life altering injuries, and costly property damage as a result of motor vehicle collisions on our roadways. Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for children and young adults ages 3 - 34 and the leading cause of long term disability, including brain and spinal-cord injuries, for all ages.
It is imperative that motorists take driving seriously, learn to share the road, develop a mindset that will help them drive less aggressively, and remember to keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel.
Ultimately the campaign would like to reach every motorist in Lee County with at least one message on average, every single day of the year regarding the dangers of distracted driving. All residents and visitors are urged to practice safe and law abiding driving habits and follow the simple philosophy of Stay Alert, Stay Focused, Stay Alive...Just Drive. n
