Fishing tournament to benefit Hodges University

Mangrove Madness, an International Game Fish Association World Qualifying Tournament will be held on Aug. 17 and 18 at 'Tween Waters Inn on Captiva Island. This tournament, now in the second year, provides a great experience for anglers who love to fish, who want to have fun and who want to enjoy great amenities in addition to supporting Hodges University.

All anglers are welcome to fish in this event that truly targets the less "traditional" tournament angler. The result is a field of competitors that are more equal in skill and a tournament where everyone has a real chance to place and capture valuable prizes.

The underlying purpose of the event is to provide an outstanding experience to many that may feel intimidated by other fishing tournaments geared to highly skilled anglers that fish in numerous events as well as a fundraiser for Hodges University, an accredited university with campuses in Naples and Fort Myers.

Anglers can check in at the hospitality room at 'Tween Waters Inn beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17 where they will receive special edition, Bimini Bay tournament fishing shirts and limited edition tournament hats as well as other items in their bags.

The evening will include a Captain's Party which will include a cocktail party followed by a gourmet meal. There will also be an auction and raffle with many exciting items available for bid.

On Saturday, Aug. 18, anglers will check in with the Mangrove Madness Start Boat and can begin fishing at first safe light.

On Saturday evening, the tournament will conclude with an Awards Banquet featuring a pig roast. Rather than providing cash prizes as in many other fishing tournaments, everyone will compete for prizes that include vacation packages to New York, North Carolina and other locations ultimately helping support Hodges University.
