Dance program coming to Fort Myers

The Alliance for the Arts is kicking off its newest program, "Dance Alliance," geared toward encouraging and showcasing creative movement.
Register by Friday, Aug. 17 and take advantage of a special Early Bird discount. The fee is $75. Registrations received after that date increase to $100.
Dance Alliance features workshops for students aged 10 to adult, and culminates on Saturday, September 22, in a Student Choreography Performance. Area dance students ages 12 - 19 have the
chance to submit
a piece for the
showcase. Submissions
are due Friday, Aug. 17.

Three instructors, Janice Barringer, John Parks and Clarita
Filgueiras will teach workshops
and hold discussions about
dance. Events for the
two and a half day
workshop will
be held at the
Alliance for
the Arts and
Cypress Lake
Center for the
Arts. Clarita Filgueiras
Native Floridian,
Janice Barringer will be the keynote speaker at the opening reception and hold a signing of her book, "The Pointe Book."
John Parks, currently the Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of South Florida, plans to lead classes in Modern, African and Jazz styles.
Clarita Filgueiras, founder and director of Flamenco Puro Dance Company of Miami will teach classes in classic Flamenco dance.Trained in classical, regional and Flamenco dance, Filgueiras has been recognized throughout the U.S. with over 25 years of teaching and choreographing experience.
