Imaginarium celebrates 12th birthday
Join the celebration as the Imaginarium turns 12 years old. On Saturday, Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. the festivities begin with special activities throughout the day that include magic shows, live animal demonstrations, a special super science show, face painting, make-and-take activities, radio remotes and much more. Don't forget to top the day off with some delicious birthday cake courtesy of Mason's Bakery.
Caloosa Clown Alley will have a crew of clowning professionals painting faces, creating balloon animals, and performing skits to entertain visitors . Don't miss the Comedy Magic of Joey Evans, with two special shows scheduled. Super Science and Amazing Art will be performing a "Solid, Liquid, Gas Show" about the smallest things in the world and why matter matters. Fog will be flowing, hot air balloons will take flight, and you can float on a real hovercraft. Enjoy the super science show and get a cup of slime that you can take home. Stop by the Cat Country radio remote outside the Imaginarium from Noon to 2 pm and meet the Cat Country mascot. From 2-4 pm say "hola" to the DJ' s from Ke Buena 1440 Radio. Stop in at the Family Magazine booth for your copy of the Imaginarium's official magazine and some popcorn.
Guests can enjoy the "SEA-to-SEE" Touch Tanks, just unveiled at last year's Birthday Bash. The trio of marine touch tanks includes a 600-gallon Stingray touch pool, an adjoining 400-gallon touch pool filled with crabs, sea stars, mollusks, urchins, and more, and a 10-gallon wheelchair accessible touch tank. Enjoy close encounters with marine life and live demonstrations throughout the day.
The Imaginarium offers hands-on fun for everyone with over 50 interactive exhibits. Get blown away in the Hurricane Experience, walk through a thunderstorm, dig for dinosaur fossils, and get up close and personal with an assortment of animals including alligators, snakes, hissing cockroaches, and even a kinkajou. Drop by Fisheye Lagoon to feed the fish, ducks, geese, swans, and turtles. Also enjoy Hands-On Fun Show live animal demonstrations and educational films in the Theater-in-the-Tank. Younger visitors will enjoy exploring the Tiny Town early-childhood area and perform their own show in our Puppet Theatre.
