Lee County Animal Services earns award
SPECIAL TO FLORIDA WEEKLY

Lee County Animal Services' 6th Annual Fall Pet Fest was honored August 9th at the Florida Festivals and Events Association Media Awards Banquet. The Fall Pet Fest, sponsored by KB Home, received the top award for Community Involvement among events under $75,000. The Fest was acknowledged for skill, creativity, and resourcefulness in event marketing and programming.

The ongoing purpose of the Fall Pet Fest is to promote proper pet ownership and responsibility, increase the adoptions of homeless shelter pets and raise awareness of the pet overpopulation crisis within the local community. Originally, the event was an educational and adoption endeavor. Its success over several years, however, has transformed it into a fundraiser for the Lee County Animal Care Trust Fund. The Fest also provides a much needed venue for pet owners and their companion animals to socialize while participating in a variety of activities.

The Lee County Animal Care Trust Fund was established in 2002 to assist homeless, abused and neglected animals. The Trust also provides spay/neuter programs for low income and disadvantaged pet owners.

Join Lee County Animal Services for the 7th Annual Fall Pet Fest on Nov. 3. More information is available about the Fest, sponsorship and vendor opportunities, and the Animal Care Trust at www.LeeLost- Pets.com. ¦
