Second Street closed to traffic from Hendry to Monroe

Second Street from Hendry Street to Monroe Street is closed to traffic as construction work on the Downtown Utility and Streetscape Improvements Project continues. Second street is scheduled to be closed until January 2008. The intersections at Hendry Street/Second Street and Monroe Street/Second Street remain open for north/south traffic.

Businesses such as The Veranda Restaurant and Perkins Bail Bonds that are located on Broadway south of Second Street to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard may be accessed by vehicular traffic from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Lee County Government Administration offices located on Second Street may be accessed by vehicular traffic from Main Street. Pedestrian access will be maintained to government buildings and the Second Street Deli.

Bay Street from west of Jackson Street to the City of Palms Parking Garage remains closed to traffic due to construction work. Work on Bay Street is nearing completion and scheduled to open in late October.

Lee Street from First Street to Second Street remains closed to traffic due to construction work and is expected to be complete after the first of the year.
