Local horse club season begins
SPECIAL TO FLORIDA WEEKLY

Lee County's horse club, the Lee County Horseman's Association, has taken on a new face. If you have been around for any period of time, you have probably attended a horse show, but if you haven't - now is the time to come out and watch this fabulous sport.

The LCHA welcomes horses from all disciplines.

The organization has speed events, which focus on barrel racing, poles, and other events at the Sheriff's Posse Arena. The next speed show is Saturday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. The shows are free to the general public.

Besides speed events there are the performance disciplines, which specialize in Western, and English showmanship, trail classes, Western and English pleasure classes, halter classes and breed events. This season the performance classes also begins on Saturday, Oct. 13 starting at 8 a.m. at the Lee County Civic Center. As with the speed show, the general public is welcome.

Lastly, the Hunter/Jumper Division shows on Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Lee Civic Center. Horses will be coming in from all over the state starting Saturday afternoon to school and practice for the Sunday show. You will see all stages of riders from lead line exhibitors to the $500 Mini Prix. The first Mini Prix Sponsor is Terri Lodge from CENTURY 21 Sunbelt Realty #1, Inc. The horse grounds are behind the Civic Center.

The Sheriff's Posse Arena is in North Ft. Myers just around the corner from the Lee County Civic Center. There is plenty of parking, great food, vendors and fun for all.
