Golf Jim Simpson has been named the director of golf at Del Webb at Ave Maria, a semi-private 18-hole championship course designed by Gordon Lewis and developed in conjunction with a residential community. Simpson moved to Florida from Kentucky in 1991 with Marriott Golf, the golf division of the Marriott Corporation. His professional golf experience includes resort and member-owned private courses, including 13 years with Marriott Golf. He has served as a head golf professional and/or a director of golf since 1998 and been a PGA member since 1989. Joey Garon, vice president of New Leaf, the amenity management division of Bonita Bay Group, was a featured panelist at the recent Golf Inc. Fall Conference in La Quinta, Calif. The panel discussion, entitled, "The Make-up of a Successful Golf Community," presented best practices for world-class customer service, club operations, member programs and activities, facilities management, operations and fiscal responsibility. Garon leads New Leaf's team of strategic planning, membership programming, golf and clubhouse operations, facilities management and human resources professionals. The company manages the clubs and amenities in Bonita Bay Group's portfolio of master-planned communities and offers management services to a limited number of amenity operations outside the Bonita Bay Group family.
