Last week's trivia answer
I was born in 1853 in Rochester, N.Y., and by 1903, I'd received patents for microscopes, binoculars and a camera shutter. I made America's first optical-quality glass, developed sunglasses for the military in World War I, and in 1971, introduced the first soft contact lenses. Today I generate more than $2 billion in revenues annually. My brand names include PureVision, SofLens, Boston, Optima, ReNu, Ocuvite, PreserVision and Sensitive Eyes.
I also make pharmaceutical products and items used for cataract, vitreoretinal and refractive surgeries. I just agreed to merge with the private equity firm Warburg Pincus. Who am I? (Answer: Bausch & Lomb)
