The much anticipated Publix Supermarket in the River District held its ribbon cutting to unveil its newest location at 7:30 am on November 1, 2007. The new location will offer the most current design, layout and products, as well as the newest technologies in retail and grocery facilities. This Publix opening marks the first big milestone for First Street Village, the $150 million mixed-use community that broke ground last October of 2006.
"The Publix gives people another reason to stay downtown which, is key to building a vibrant River District," said Joe Cameratta, chief executive officer of Cameratta Properties. "We are proud to see this first step successfully achieved in the grand opening of Publix Supermarket and are looking forward to many more successful milestones."
First Street Village is a $150-million mixed-use community that offers 356 residential units, approximately 38,000 square feet of divisible office condominiums and over 100,000 square feet of Class "A" retail space, anchored by the newly open Publix. Other commercial tenants include a Starbucks and First Watch Restaurant, with more to come.
