2008 Chico's Charities Edison Festival of Light
Schedule of Events

Jan. 26 Edison Day of Discovery presented by Florida Power and Light Thomas Alva Edison Kiwanis Science & Engineering Fair and Thomas A. Edison Regional Inventors Fair. Celebrating 51 years, this event showcases over 800-student finalists from Southwest Florida. Exhibits include everything from botany, engineering, zoology and medicine. Special guest Dr. Robert Lang will demonstrate the art of Origami. Where: Harborside Event Center When: Open to the public after judging is completed Cost: Free

Discovery Village presented by Kraft Construction Discover and explore the hands on exhibits of local museums, attractions and vehicles of all types and sizes. Bass Pro Shops' workshop on fly tying, fly-casting and archery. Where: East Centennial Park When: 10 am - 4 pm Cost: Free

Feb. 8 Light Up The Town - Block Party Continuous entertainment throughout the evening including local bands, street performers, family fun area and community stage. Various food and beverages round out the party under the stars. Junior Parade presented by Lite 93.7 This family event is a mini-version of the Grand Parade and has no age limit for participation. The Parade includes floats, wagons, strollers, bikes and trikes, schools, scouts and marching bands. Feb. 15, 16 and 17 Craft's on the River Crafters exhibit everything from quilts, paintings, ceramics, jewelry, pottery and flags. Where: East Centennial Park When: Friday - 10 am - 5 pm; Saturday - 10 am - 5 pm; Sunday - 10 am - 4 pm Cost: Free

Edison Festival of Light Grand Parade Celebrating 70 years with two hours of floats, marching bands, special guests and fun. The parade begins in downtown Fort Myers and travels south down Cleveland Avenue to Edison Stadium at Fort Myers High School. Stadium and Fireworks Show The best seat in town for viewing the Grand Parade and while waiting enjoy national entertainment, Southwest Airlines Ticket Giveaway and fireworks presented by Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre.
