WGCU's Connect! explores living green and wellness

Connect! the new program of WGCU Public Media will premier in January with a look at Living Green and Wellness. Connect! is hosted by Jim McLaughlin and airs on TV 30 and Cable 3.

Scheduled to begin Friday, Jan. 11 at 8:30 p.m. Connect! Living Green will take a look at biofuel with special guest, John Puig, founder of Naples Biofuel. The segment features a simple-to-understand demonstration of how biofuel works. Living Green also will look at Florida friendly yards, and the advantages of planting native plants. The third segment of Living Green introduces viewers to an Estero woman who is "greening up" her life

On Friday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. Connect! will focus on Wellness highlighting ways to become more physically active. The first segment spotlights group activities such as Zumba dance classes and Fitness Boot Camp. The segment also explores senior citizens fitness activities such as Tai Chi classes. The second Wellness segment focuses on one of Southwest Florida most popular sports, tennis and takes a look at cardio tennis.

The Connect! discussion will continue on WGCU's Gulf Coast Live radio call in show, hosted by McLaughlin. On Monday, Jan. 14 Gulf Coast Live will focus on biofuel. On Monday, Jan. 21 Gulf Coast Live will discuss next-generation gyms. Gulf Coast Live airs at 2 p.m. on 90.1 FM.
