Maybe it was the sweeping views of the Caloosahatchee and the Fort Myers skyline at dawn and sunset, or perhaps envisioning their yacht snug in its slip in the private deep-water marina that clinched their decision to buy their elegant new penthouse at North Star Yacht Club. Whatever the deciding factors, Jim and Pat West are delighted to be among the first to come home to the finest expression of waterfront living to be found in Fort Myers.
The West's are local residents from Hudson, Wisconsin who, for the past 17 years, divide their time between their home in Southwest Florida and summers in their native state. They are well known in the area and enjoy their time here to its fullest.
The West's found much to like at North Star, but they especially appreciate the 12-acre gated campus and the huge 15,000- square-foot Clubhouse. Their poolside cabana is another favorite feature, where they plan to entertain or catch the Green Bay Packers games along with a few rays.
They also plan to see a lot of Southwest Florida aboard their yacht, the light-heartedly named It's Only Money, from which they explore Gulf and Atlantic waters, both easily reached from North Star's strategic location on the Intra-coastal Waterway.
The couple of 49 years have enlisted the help of interior designer Carrie Cremia of Norris Furniture, and they are now making their final selections of furnishings and other custom touches, and plan to move in to their specious 3,800-squarefoot residence later this month.
The West's also have no plans to slow down any time soon and are looking forward to sharing their North Star penthouse with each other, friends and family.
"We are so excited about our new home," said Jim West. "The views are spectacular, especially at sunrise and sunset."
Pat west agreed. "We have an excellent interior designer and craftsmen who will be working feverishly to prepare the home for move-in. We can't wait until that day."
