REIS awards scholarships to FGCU students

The REIS Scholarship Foundation, operated by the Real Estate Investment Society awarded the "Frank D'Alessandro Memorial Scholarships" to three outstanding business majors at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Angela Garcia, Emily Ann Brockelsby, and Jessica M. Vogel will each receive $2,500 toward tuition and books.

Garcia is a senior, pursuing a double major in Finance and Business Management. She has acquired a Florida Real Estate License and plans to study real estate valuation and real estate law, with the goal of a career in finance and real estate. Brockelsby is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree with dual majors in Finance and Computer Information Systems. She plans to graduate in 2009. Vogel is a senior working toward a degree in Finance, with the ambition of eventually acquiring an MBA. She also works for World Savings Bank and looks forward to a career in banking.

The REIS Scholarship Foundation is supported by contributions from the business community and REIS members.

In conjunction with the scholarships, the students receive honorary membership in the REIS, where they may attend meetings on a complimentary basis.

"We welcome these outstanding scholars to join us, to learn about the area's commercial real estate industry, and develop relationships with members of the business community," said REIS President Steve Hartsell.

REIS manages the Scholarship Foundation and underwrites all operating costs, which allows 100 percent of donations to be distributed in scholarships. Information on contributing to the REIS Scholarship Foundation is available at the REIS web site: www.reisswfl. org or from Scholarship Chairman Tom Woodyard, (239) 425-6011.

Foundation scholarships are available to students at FGCU, Edison College, Hodges University, and Southwest Florida College. Criteria, school contacts, and other information on the program are also available at the REIS web site: www.reis-swfl.org
