Preview new boat propulsion system at Salty Sam's Marina
Joystick docking to be unveiled in Miami next month
SPECIAL TO FLORIDA WEEKLY

Salty Sam's Marina on Fort Myers Beach is one of the first marinas in the nation to showcase an all-new propulsion system designed by MerCruiser, a division of Mercury Marine.

The public can preview the new system at Salty Sam's on Thursday, Jan. 31, through Sunday, Feb. 3, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

This revolutionary propulsion and joystick docking system, known as the Axius Piloting System, offers never-before-seen control thanks to its advanced piloting features.

Boaters can view demonstrations of Axius-powered boats, including a Formula, Rinker and Maxum.

Axius is a sterndrive system that uses twin, independently articulating Mer- Cruiser Bravo Three sterndrives to enable joystick docking. Its Digital Throttle & Shift and Electronic/Hydraulic steering systems make piloting larger boats simple. The Axius-powered boats can move laterally, at an angle, forward, backward and even turn on their axis - all with a simple touch of a joystick.

The official product launch of Axius is slated for Feb. 14 at the Miami International Boat Show. Axius will be offered this year by several highly regarded boat builders.
