Free environmental workshops and guided tours

If you've ever wanted to learn more about your Florida environment, Lee County has just the solution with information about nature, landscaping and recycling. Lee County Parks & Recreation is now offering free to the public workshops and guided walks at the Eco Living Center at Rutenberg Park.

The workshops are taught by experts in each field who will address a variety of subjects from burrowing owls to gardening. Trained volunteers will lead you on a guided walk through the Florida Yards and Neighborhood demonstration garden and answer all of your landscaping questions. You can learn all about living light- er on the planet by having as little impact as possible.

The workshops and walks are both free and open to the public. Workshops are held at 9 a.m. every Wednesday through March 26. Guided walks will be every Wednesday following the workshops at 10 a.m. Everything happens at the Eco Living Center at Rutenberg Park on South Pointe Boulevard between College Parkway and Cypress Lake Boulevard. Make reservations by contacting John Kiseda, environmental education coordinator, at (239) 432-2163 or kisedajb@leegov.com.
