Mike Calbot, more commonly known as the Golf Doctor, is relocating his International Golf Studio and TRIAD Golf Schools to Old Corkscrew Golf Club, a freestanding golf facility located on Corkscrew Road in Estero, Florida.
Calbot established his golf studio and school in Southwest Florida in 1978, and was the first professional to introduce the use of video in golf instruction to Southwest Florida. Calbot has thousands of clients from around the world including touring professionals such as Nolan Henke and Terri Jo Myers. He is widely known for offering golf tips on WINK TV for more than 25 years. Calbot has more than 38 years of teaching experience. Early in his golf career he traveled the world as a touring professional and he continues to be in demand world-wide as a golf trick shot artist. He has produced a golf instruction video called "Learning Golf," and has authored numerous articles about golf and golf instruction in regional and national magazines.
Old Corkscrew is an 18-hole golf facility designed by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, and is located on a magnificently wooded and secluded 275-acre site on Corkscrew Road seven miles east of I-75.
Calbot welcomed the opportunity to expand his golf studio and schools at Old Corkscrew. "It's a very special place with its Jack Nicklaus Signature design. I am looking forward to working with the club's members and to introducing my clients to this extraordinary and unique golf course."
The Club is the only Signature Nicklaus Design non-residential course in Southwest Florida.
"Mike brings an extensive knowledge of golf instruction to Old Corkscrew," said Mark Iwinski, manager of golf operations for Old Corkscrew Golf Club. "We are thrilled to have him available for lessons and he is going to be a great asset to our members."
Old Corkscrew was named one of America's Best New Golf Courses by Golf Digest magazine and recognized by The National Golf Course Owners Association as its 2008 Florida Course of the Year. It has been certified as an Audubon Signature Silver Sanctuary.
