"Art in the Woods" exhibition and sale
The second annual "Art in the Woods" exhibition and sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 at 16341 Arbor Ridge Drive in Fort Myers.
The festival will feature local artists, food, live entertainment and activities for kids and adults.
Artists will exhibit original paintings, jewelry, pottery, fused glass, wood carvings, photography, mosaics, woodworking, whimsical dolls, mixed media, fiber art and more. A massage therapist and a qigong healing therapist will also be on hand.
Kids can express themselves with paintbrushes on a van donated by Alligator Towing. There will be a special children's area complete with face and coconut painting.
The art fair will also raise funds for Footsteps to the Future, a non-profit mentoring program for teens who are either in, or "aging out" of foster care. Its mission is that young women become educated, independent, strong and productive individuals.
Another feature is the collaborative effort between the artists and the young women this program is designed to benefit. The artists participate because of their desire to increase awareness about this important program. The young women will participate in the entrepreneurial aspects of the show by collecting money, working with the kids, and helping to sell items offered to the community.
Ticket donations are $5 per person at the gate. Arbor Drive is just south of John Morris Rd, off McGregor Boulevard in the Iona area of Fort Myers. For additional information call (239) 945-4527 or (239) 275-5834 or visit www.footstepstothefuture.org.
