Florida Rep announces spring classes
SPECIAL TO FLORIDA WEEKLY
Florida Repertory Theatre is proud to announce its spring classes for youth and adults. In addition to the traditional session of classes in March and April, Florida Rep's Education Department is proud to offer another session in May and June.
Taught by theatre professionals, the classes bring the craft of theatre to the community in fun, creative and informative ways.
All classes are held in Florida Rep's studio space and are taught on Monday evenings beginning on March 24 and running through June 9. Each class runs for six weeks.
Motion Explosion for Ages 4-7
Children in this exciting class will explore the wonders of movement and physical expression. It will boost confidence and exercise imagination through techniques of dance, improvisation and theatre. Mondays, March 24-April 28, 4 to 5 p.m., $90
Clowning Around for Ages 8-12
Guaranteed to awaken the performer in everyone, students in this workshop will learn to juggle. They will explore techniques of physical comedy, improvisation and other stage skills. Mondays, March 24-April 28, 5 to 6:30 p.m.,$90 Adult Acting: Audition Workshop for Ages 18 and up
This class will teach the nuances of selecting and performing audition material. Students will become comfortable with performing at auditions as well as all about show business. Mondays, March 24-April 28, 7 to 9 p.m., $120
Creative Characters for Ages 4-7
Children in this class will travel to the world of make-believe, and transform into fun and imaginative characters of their own creation. This class will incorporate techniques of story-telling, improvisation and comedy to introduce children into the performing arts. Mondays, May 5-June 9, 4 to 5 p.m., $90
Teen Scenes for Ages 11-17
Students will use the fundamentals of improvisation, sketch comedy, ensemble pieces and monologues to create their own workshop performance for the final class. This workshop also features guest appearances from the Florida Rep Acting interns to answer questions about starting a career in theatre. Mondays, May 5-June 9, 5 to 6:30 p.m., $90
Adult Acting: Scene Study for Ages 14 and up
This class is an opportunity for teens and adults to "come out and play," and is perfect for experienced performers as well as beginners. Students will learn how to interpret scripts, choose and develop characters using voice, movement and improvisation and build confidence while doing it. Mondays, May 5-June 9, 7 to 9 p.m., $120
